The following information is useful to gain more detail on what is happening and the general layout of the UK National Grid and generators and interconnectors connected to it:

International Interconnectors.

Currently the UK has four interconnectors connecting it to France, Holland, Northern and Southern Ireland.

• French Interconnectors. These are a 2GW and a 1GW bidirectional connectors.
• Dutch Interconnector. This is a 1GW bidirectional connector.
• NEMO Interconnector. This is a 1GW bidirectional connector from Belgium to the UK.
• North Sea Link to Norway. This is a 1GW bidirectional connector from Norway to the UK.
• Moyle Interconnector. This is a 500MW bidirectional connector from Scotland to N Ireland.
• East-West Interconnector. This is a 500MW bidirectional connector from Wales to the Irish Republic.
